David Kennard

Wellscroft Fence Systems and Wellscroft Farm
Chesham/Harrisville, NH
For the past 37 years David Kennard has raised commercial Dorset crosses using IRG to maximize the forage on the hilly, rocky terrain on the 100 acres known as Wellscroft Farm in Chesham, NH. David uses a blend of Sylva culture and agriculture to maximize the out-put of the land thereby extending the grazing season well into December which decreases feed costs, minimizes labor and greatly benefits the health of his flock. David is a strong advocate of a “natural approach” to managing his flock by limiting vaccinations and improving resistance often augmented with homeopathy. The farm also utilizes a small herd of Boer goats to balance and control undesirable forage. Wellscoft Farm works closely with NRCS and Cooperative Extensions to design IRG and MIG programs for farmers. David and Wellscroft Farm are recipients of Innovative Farmer of the Year, Master Shepherd and NH Farm of Distinction awards.  Wellscroft markets 300 lambs a year but David first puts his flock to work by testing and refining fence products for his company Wellscroft Fence Systems. The business is a successful, leading source for quality fencing supplies throughout New England. Wellscroft Fence Systems specializes in livestock containment and crop protection for anyone from back yard gardeners to commercial farmers. David is committed to providing exceptional customer service and field-tested high quality products.
