Small Dairy Educator with Cortland County Cornell Coop Extension

After 20 years as a dairy farmer, Fay sold his organically certified dairy herd in 2003 to work with Cornell’s Extension service. His responsibilities include:

• Small Dairy Educator for the South Central NY Dairy Team.
• Project manager for the NY Organic Dairy Program.
• Project Manager for the NY Soil Health Trailer
• Educational Director for the NY Dairy Grazing Apprentice Program

In his work he facilitates the NY Organic Dairy Task Force which is a group that has been meeting twice a year since 2006, and includes farmers, processors, certifiers, and educators. He also over sees numerous extension programs across the state dealing with organic dairy and field crops. These projects include:

• Organic Dairy Managing For Success – A 2 day workshop of farm management designed for the organic dairy farmer.
• Organic field Crop -  Field Days
• Facilitator for NY Certified Organic (NYCO). This discussion group started in 1996 and has been managed by Fay since 2004.
